Men with prostate cancer may have an increased burden of cardiovascular risk factors and cardiovascular disease. Of particular interest is androgen deprivation therapy (ADT), an important treatment for prostate cancer that may influence cardiovascular and metabolic risk. RADICAL-PC was established to better understand cardiovascular disease in men with prostate cancer and to determine whether systematic management of cardiovascular and lifestyle risk factors can improve outcomes.
RADICAL-PC1 is a prospective longitudinal cohort study designed to identify factors associated with the development of cardiovascular disease in men with prostate cancer, with a particular focus on the cardiovascular effects of ADT. It assesses cardiovascular risk factors, cardiovascular disease and major adverse cardiovascular events over time.
